Poland vs Saudi Arabia are meeting for the first time since a friendly game in March 2006, which Poland won 2-1 courtesy to a brace from Lukasz Sosin.

Poland has played an Asian country only three times in the FIFA World Cup, losing 2-0 to Korea Republic in 2002 and defeating Japan 1-0 in 2018.

3 With the exception of a 1-0 victory against Belgium in 1994, Saudi Arabia has lost nine of their ten FIFA World Cup matches against European opponents. They haven’t scored a goal in either of the past seven of these games, and they have lost each of their last eight such contests.

Poland has held a clean sheet in both of its most recent World Cup games; they are the only team to have done it from 1974 to 1978 when they went three consecutive without conceding a goal (run of three).

Saudi Arabia has won its previous two World Cup games, defeating Argentina on MD1 this year and Egypt in the tournament’s championship match in 2018. They had only won two of their first 15 games in the tournament (D2 L11), and both victories had also occurred back-to-back in the group stage in 1994.
